Here at Bewl Water, every fortnight we like to update you all on the latest fishing activity, news and insights happening on the reservoir, so you know what’s going on. As autumn begins to seep into winter, the cooler days and some very cold nights have pushed Bewl Water’s water temperature right down to 11 degrees Celsius, which is very good news for the fishery!
Due to the change in temperature, fishing has improved enormously with some very good bags of hard fighting trout now being seen. Furthermore, the fish are very active and high up in the water and Fly Fishing, with bright flies, Boobies, Minkies and Blobs, and any method fishing, with baits and spinners, are both very productive.
However, we have seen a decline in the success of Predator fishing, which has been slower but a selection of pike have been caught on lures, the largest to date weighing in at 17lbs, which is definitely a silver lining.
If you don’t usually fish beyond the end of October you should give it a go – there have been some beautiful days with good fishing this month and there is no better way to spend a day, than overlooking the picturesque beauty of Bewl Water! We are currently offering substantial discounts on fishing, so take advantage of these offers which are now available for the winter – this also includes boat hire. So, get outside and enjoy the English Countryside.
Please note that weekends are very busy so boats should be booked in advance call us.
