Bewl water anglers have been blessed with some fantastic conditions for trout fishing as the weather cools and the water clarity continues to improve. The fish have been very active with many being caught close to the surface, during the afternoons fish have been seen rising and jumping in many areas of the reservoir. Popular and productive areas or fishing continue to be the main bowl, the entrance to Bewl straight and more recently from canoe club corner and in front of the playground. All methods have produced results with many anglers catching full or close to full bags of up to eight fish. The recently stocked rainbows have proven to be hard fighting and enjoyable to catch with several reports showing nice 3lbs + fish. Bewl has seen a number of young anglers join us this month despite the colder weather taking advantage of our junior permits and fishing as one of three generations in our fleet of boats. Predator fishing has yet to turn on completely but a range of 10lbs+ pike have been reported this week alongside some very active perch, some good one and a half perch have proved good sport to some of the regular anglers.
As Christmas nears the tackle shop has seen an increase in voucher sales, do get in touch with us if you know that a days fishing or a voucher to spend on tackle in our shop is the ideal present for that special someone. Don’t forget, boat fishing continues until 31st January and the fishery only closes on Christmas day.
