Bewl Water Perimeter Fence Project

Southern Water is excited to announce a significant investment of £1 million at Bewl Water to repair and replace the perimeter fence. This essential project aims to enhance the security and preservation of the site while ensuring minimal disruption to the environment and visitors.

Work will begin on Monday, 6th January 2025, and is expected to take approximately 7 months to complete. Despite the ongoing work, Bewl Water remains open for all visitors and access to the water and footpaths near the work area will remain open.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Noisy work will commence no earlier than 8:00 AM.

Protecting Bewl Water

Before commencing work, the team conducted a comprehensive Ecology Report to ensure our efforts do not disturb, harm, or displace any protected species. This initiative is not only about upgrading infrastructure but also protecting the surrounding woodlands and maintaining the delicate balance of Bewl Water’s ecosystem.

While the project is underway, visitors may experience some minor inconveniences. You may hear some noise, particularly while fence posts are being installed. Equipment will be transported using off-road vehicles, a designated welfare compound will be set up near the Waterfront Café car park for equipment storage and staff welfare facilities.

To support our workforce, a welfare unit will be available onsite, providing essential amenities such as flushing toilets, a staff area with washing and drying facilities, and a dedicated space for storing tools, materials, and vehicles to ensure efficient workflow.

This compound will be located in Bewl Water’s main area and will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of the project.

This investment marks a significant step in maintaining and improving Bewl Water for the future. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance the site while preserving its natural beauty.
